MILLENNICON® is a literacy based, science fiction convention in the long standing run by fans for fans tradition, with 28 years of providing midwest fandom with a fine science fiction convention for fans of all ages. Programming items include science fiction literature and fantasy subjects, science, space, technology, writing, art, costuming, collecting, gaming, children's programming, film and media interests. Activities include a dealers room, art show and auction, masquerade contest, a dance, filking, gaming demonstrations, tournaments, open gaming, video and anime room, consuite, contests and door prizes.

In addition, MILLENNICON® supports regional science fiction fandom by providing a seperate track of programming reserved for regional science fiction based fan groups and organizations. The fans may present panels and activities of their own choosing to showcase their favorite subjects. MILLENNICON® offers free information tables for these groups so they can advertise their organization and activities, support their favorite charities, and solicit new members.

MILLENNICON® is the primary fund raiser for the Miami Valley Fandom for Literacy®. The Miami Valley Fandom for Literacy (MVFL) is a non-profit public charity, 501(c) 3 status, recognized in the state of Ohio and by the Internal Revenue Service. It was created in 1995 due to two main factors: general statistics of declining literacy and science achievement of American young people, and the lack of young people among groups which enjoyed science fiction and fantasy literature.

The main purpose of MVFL is to promote an interest in the sciences, math and space sciences, in the literature of science fiction and fantasy and in creative writing. This is achieved through providing literature and funds to non-profit institutions such as schools, hospitals, and libraries.

Other avenues of promotion are through sponsoring seminars and talks by authors and scientists and promoting amateur publications for creative writing. These activities are achieved primarily through our annual fund-raiser MILLENNICON.

Since the last MILLENNICON we have joined alliances with the Forest Park Women’s Club in gathering and distributing books through MVFL. We have already joined forces and donated books to the Oncology and Hematology Care facility here in Cincinnati for the patients that are undergoing treatment with them. We will be delivering more books to them in the near future.

Your donations have enabled MVFL to make semi-annual book donations to the Cincinnati VA Hospital, the Middletown Hospice, Dayton Children’s Medical Center, the Cincinnati Public Library, the Literacy Council of Clermont and Brown Counties, Hospice of Dayton and the Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati. MVFL is also going to be sending books through Operation Paperback – providing books to our troops overseas. They have requested not only the top sellers but they want science fiction and fantasy books. And their wish will be granted through MVFL.

If you know of or belong to a non-profit organization that is in need of books here in the Miami Valley area, please feel free to contact us for a donation.

How can you help? Donate your new or gently used book to MVFL for distribution. You can make donations directly at MILLENNICON or at a MILLENNICON room party – this year we will be at InConJunction and Context. Or give us a call or visit our website www.mvfl.org and if you are in the Miami Valley area, we can arrange for a pick up directly with you.
